The uvex ultimate race X is a road racing helmet with a CFD-optimised aero shell, a magnetic flip-up visor you can move without taking the helmet off, BOA® micro-adjustable fit and CCubed® cooling — uvex’s top road helmet, and it arrives in its own hardcase.

This is a helmet built for going fast in a straight line and staying comfortable while doing it. The shape came out of CFD simulation: it channels air around the head rather than through a wall of vents, which is where the drag saving comes from, and it stays stable at speed rather than tugging when you turn your head. The category 2 litemirror silver visor reflects glare and infrared and blocks 100% of UV, and because it holds on magnets you can flick it to the ventilated position or right over the top of the shell one-handed, mid-effort — no removing the helmet, nowhere to drop it. Fit comes from the BOA® FS2 dial, which pulls a high-strength lace through low-friction guides for millimetre-precise adjustment and even pressure. Inside, the CCubed® padding moves sweat off the skin and lets it evaporate, which uvex measures as up to 2 °C cooler at the skin — the single most relevant claim on this page for anyone riding here in July. The shell is multi in-mould, the straps run through a flat adjustable Y-divider into a monomatic buckle, and a hardcase box is included to protect it between rides.

What you get

A shape shaped by airflow

The shell was developed in CFD simulation to cut drag and steer air cleanly around the head. Look at the gap between the visor and the shell — that is passive ventilation, feeding air through the helmet without a single open vent to slow you down.

Magnetic visor, two positions

The visor holds on magnets. Flick it up to the ventilated position or all the way over the top of the helmet, one-handed, mid-race — without taking the helmet off and without anywhere to lose the visor.

BOA® FS2 fit system

A micro-adjustable dial pulls a high-strength lace through low-friction guides, so the cradle tightens in millimetre steps and spreads the pressure evenly around your head instead of pressing on two points.

CCubed® cooling padding

The interior pulls sweat off your skin and lets it evaporate, which uvex measures as up to 2 °C cooler at the skin. In a Dubai summer that is the difference between a helmet you tolerate and one you forget about.

About the visor

The helmet ships with the litemirror silver, filter category 2 visor fitted — a medium tint suited to general daylight, and the right choice for most riding here outside the harshest midday hours. It sits on magnets in two positions: down over the eyes, or flipped up and over the shell.

uvex makes two spare visors for this helmet, so you can keep a second one in the hardcase:

• litemirror silver, category 2 — the standard visor (S41.8.174.0100)
• clear, category 0 — for night riding, indoor training and dawn starts (S41.8.174.0200)

Size and fit

Measure around your head about 2 cm above your eyebrows, at the widest point. uvex makes the ultimate race X in two sizes, and this listing is the larger one.

If you measure 58 cm or less, this is not your size — contact us and we will bring in the 53–58 cm. The BOA dial has a lot of range, but it takes up slack within a size, not between sizes, and an aero helmet that sits too high loses both the fit and the aerodynamics.

Frequently asked questions

Will it be too hot for summer riding here?
It has fewer open vents than a classic climbing helmet — that is where the aero saving comes from — but it is not a sealed time-trial lid. Air moves continuously through the gap between the visor and the shell, and the CCubed interior actively moves sweat off the skin, which uvex measures as up to 2 °C cooler. For fast group rides and racing it works; for slow climbing in August a heavily vented helmet will still feel airier.

Do I still need sunglasses?
No — that is the point of the visor. It is category 2 with 100% UV protection, and it covers more of your face than glasses do. If you prefer glasses on a particular day, flip the visor up over the shell and leave it there.

Can I ride it at night?
With the standard category 2 visor, flip it up. Or fit the clear category 0 spare visor, which is made for exactly that — ask us to order one.

What size should I take?
Measure 2 cm above the eyebrows. This listing is 59–61 cm only. Anything 58 cm or under needs the 53–58 cm size, which we will order for you.
