Getting your bike there — and carrying things on it

Half of riding is logistics. The ride starts at Al Qudra but the bike starts in a car park, or a lift, or a hallway. This is the gear that gets it there in one piece, brings a child along for the ride, and carries what you need once you are moving.

Riding with kids

The biggest part of this range is Urban Iki — rear and junior child seats plus every part that goes with them: frame mounting sets and holders, carrier mounts, windscreens, cushions, seat belts, foot straps and the small clips that always go missing. If you need a single replacement part rather than a whole seat, it is probably here.

Alongside it there is the Woom Pop kids basket and the Woom Pickup rack, for the stage where they want to carry their own things. If you are still choosing the bike itself, start with our kids’ bikes.

Fitting a child seat is not universal — frame shape, rack type and wheel size all matter. Send us a photo of your bike or bring it in and we will tell you honestly whether it will work.

Flying with your bike

For travel we stock the Scicon Aerocomfort 3.0 TSA soft bag and the Scicon Aerotech Evolution X hard case, the B&W Bike Box II, and a Zipp single wheel bag for wheels travelling on their own.

Soft bags are lighter and easier to store at the other end; hard cases give more protection if the bike is going to be handled a lot. Airline size and weight rules change, so check with your airline before you book the bike on — we would rather you asked than guessed.

Car racks and storage at home

We keep Fovno suction roof racks and crossbars, the Saris SOLO carrier, and the Shimano Pro wall mount pedal hook for hanging a bike off the wall when floor space is short — which, in most Dubai apartments, it is.

Bags, and carrying things while you ride

Handlebar bags, a musette and a daily backpack from Café du Cycliste, a Shimano Pro gravel top tube bag, an Oxford saddle bag, and the leather Stromer Bern bag. For hydration on longer rides there are Camelbak packs and Profile Design front hydration systems.

Questions we get asked

Will a child seat fit my bike?

Usually, but not always. It depends on the frame, whether there is a rack, and the wheel size. Ask us before you buy — a seat that does not fit safely is not worth the saving.

Soft bag or hard case for flying?

Soft if you value the weight and somewhere to put it at the other end. Hard if the bike is expensive, the trip is long, or you have watched how bikes get loaded.

Can you pack my bike for me?

We can. Boxing a bike is one of the services in our workshop, and we can collect it from your home or work in Dubai first. See bike servicing and repairs.
