This is the genuine Shimano Y1N218000 crank arm fixing bolt for the Dura-Ace FC-9000 crankset. On a Hollowtech II crank it is the cap in the end of the left arm that sets the bearing preload before the arm’s pinch bolts are tightened. If it is cracked, chewed by the wrong tool or missing, the left arm cannot be set up properly.

What does this bolt do?
It sets the bearing preload on a Hollowtech II crank. Tighten it lightly with the correct cap tool, then tighten the two pinch bolts on the left arm.
Which tool do I need?
Shimano’s crank cap tool for this bolt (our workshop has it). Do not use pliers; they damage the plastic or alloy cap.
