Innovation fireworks from the Far East! With the XTR M9100, Shimano presents its most versatile MTB group. While the first generations of XTR racing groupsets were developed for the needs of XC racers, the term MTB racing is much broader today. With a variety of options, everyone from enduro racers to marathon riders can put together their XTR M9100 drive for their needs.

At first glance, the BL-M9100 brake lever has hardly changed compared to its predecessor. From a technical point of view, the master piston and the mechanics were largely taken over from the M9000. However, the suspension of the lever has been fundamentally revised. The wider clamp in the middle of the lever not only creates more space for attaching remote levers, it also offers significantly more rigidity. In combination with a support for the master piston on the handlebars, the brake lever offers a much more direct braking feel. According to Shimano, stiffness and braking power could be increased by 10% and a 30% faster response behavior could be realized with this design. The reach of the lever is adjustable for optimal accessibility.

Thanks to a revised line system and the use of magnesium (housing) and carbon (lever), the 2-piston version was able to save 26 grams in weight compared to the previous version. The caliper of the M9100 has a one-piece aluminum design, which has better thermal properties than magnesium.
