The Dynamic Double Checker is a pocket-sized, laser-cut aluminium tool that checks chain wear on 7–13-speed chains and disc rotor thickness for SRAM, Shimano, Campagnolo, Magura and Hope, with a built-in chain hook and ruler.
The Dynamic Double Checker is a pocket-sized, laser-cut tool that tells you when your chain and disc rotors are worn out. A worn chain is slower, wears out your cassette and chainrings and can snap; a rotor that is too thin brakes noticeably worse. One quick check tells you exactly when to replace them.
Riding in the UAE is hard on drivetrains: fine desert dust and sand work their way into the chain on every ride at Al Qudra or on the Hatta trails. The Double Checker lives in your toolbox or saddle bag, so you can check the chain after every wash instead of waiting for the shifting to go wrong.
True pin wear
The three-point design measures pin wear and takes roller wear out of the reading, so you see how worn the chain really is.
Rotor check by brand
Slots labelled for SRAM, Shimano, Campagnolo, Magura and Hope rotors. If your rotor slides into its slot, it is too thin and needs replacing.
Built-in chain hook
Hook it into the chain to take the tension off while you open or close a quick link: stable, quick and no mess.
Pocket-sized
Laser-cut anodised aluminium with a ruler and the wear limits printed on the tool, so you don’t need a manual.
How to use it
Chain check
- Insert points 1 and 2 into the chain, pins pointing down.
- Lift the chain between points 1 and 2 to create tension.
- Press point 3 down into the chain.
- Read the indicator: under 0.5% – good; over 0.5% – replace 11/12/13-speed chains; over 0.75% – replace 7/8/9/10-speed chains.
Rotor check
- Pick the slot for your rotor brand.
- If the rotor fits into the slot, it needs replacing. When in doubt, check the minimum thickness printed on the rotor.
Chain hook
- Insert both hooks so there is no tension on the chain between them.
- Open or close the quick link, then remove the tool.

Questions riders ask
When should I replace my chain?
Read the indicator on the tool. Under 0.5%: the chain is fine. Over 0.5%: replace an 11, 12 or 13-speed chain. Over 0.75%: replace a 7, 8, 9 or 10-speed chain. Replacing the chain on time protects your cassette and chainrings.
Why does pin wear matter more than roller wear?
Chain “stretch” comes from wear on the pins and bushings, and that is what wears out cassettes and chainrings. Dynamic’s three-point design separates pin wear from roller wear, which makes the reading more accurate.
Does it work with my chain?
Dynamic says it fits all 7 to 13-speed chains, including SRAM Flattop, Shimano and Campagnolo.
Which rotors can I check?
Rotors from SRAM, Shimano, Campagnolo, Magura and Hope, each with its own slot. If you are unsure, check the minimum thickness stamped on the rotor itself.
How often should I check?
Dust and sand wear chains faster, so on UAE roads and desert trails check the chain every few weeks and the rotors whenever braking feels weaker. Bring the bike to us if you want a second opinion.
