Despite the name, this dropout sits in the front fork, where the front wheel axle passes through. It is not the rear derailleur hanger. If you are replacing a bent hanger after a shifting problem or a crash on the drive side, you need a rear dropout instead — browse the rear dropouts or send us your frame details and we will point you to the right number.

When to replace a fork dropout
The fork dropout is the replaceable interface between the fork leg and the front axle. It takes the load every time the wheel is clamped, and on a thru-axle fork it carries the thread or the axle seat. Replace it if the face is scored or galled, if the axle no longer seats squarely, if the thread is damaged, or after any front-end impact that marked the dropout.
A damaged fork dropout is not cosmetic. It is a front-wheel retention part, and it is worth fixing properly and promptly.
Fitting
- Remove the front wheel and the thru axle before unbolting the dropout.
- Clean the interface and use the grease or assembly paste specified for your fork.
- Tighten to the torque given in your BMC manual. Do not guess on a carbon fork.
- Refit the wheel and check the axle seats squarely and the thread runs freely by hand before torquing.

Common questions
Is this the part my rear derailleur bolts to?
No. That is a rear dropout, or derailleur hanger, and BMC numbers those separately. This one is in the fork.
How do I confirm my Roadmachine X takes this one?
Send us the frame model, model year and serial number. BMC assigns fork dropouts per platform and model year, so the model name alone is not always enough.
Should I replace both sides?
This is sold as a single dropout. If both sides are marked, order two. If you are unsure which side is damaged, photograph both and send them to us.
