The Shimano Deore XT PD-M8240 is a rugged flat pedal for everyday trail riding. Its extra-wide, dual-concave platform measures 112 × 109 mm, and ten traction pins per side, with two more optional inner positions, keep your shoes planted when the trail gets rough.
Shimano gave it a new axle and bushing construction, a reinforced body and impact-resistant pins for the hits that come with rocky trails like Hatta and Showka. The platform keeps the same thickness right across, even around the axle, so your shoe sits flat, and replacement parts keep it running for seasons.

Do I need special shoes?
No cleats are needed. Use flat-soled MTB shoes; a soft, grippy rubber sole works best with the pins.
What are the extra pins for?
The 6 mm and 3 mm pins let you change how far the pins stand out, for more or less grip. The E5 socket wrench in the box fits them.
Can they be serviced?
Yes. Shimano designed them to be rebuildable, with replacement parts available.
