At CeramicSpeed, the original chains of the major manufacturers go through a multi-stage optimization process. They are polished and cleaned thoroughly. In the last step, a Teflon powder is applied, which saves 2 – 5 watts of power over untreated chains on the first 600 km. That can definitely decide whether you win or lose.
In order to take advantage of the low friction for as long as possible, the chain should only be used in dry conditions and should not be cleaned if possible. But even afterward you still have a smooth-running drive train, which is further superior to the original components.
