City helmet with a built-in visor and Mips® protection – head, eye and rotational-impact protection in one, and it wears straight over prescription glasses. Tinted scratchproof visor, plug-in rear LED with two flashing modes, hardshell construction, EN 1078 certified. Black matt, size 56–59 cm.

Description

full vision. full safety.

The uvex stride visor MIPS is a city helmet with a built-in visor and the Mips® safety system. You get head protection, eye protection and rotational-impact protection in one thing to grab on the way out – and it goes straight over prescription glasses.

  • Mips® rotational protection – a slip plane inside the helmet that most crashes actually need
  • One item instead of two – the visor replaces your sunglasses
  • Wears over your own glasses – Over the Glasses (OTG) design
  • Seen after dark – plug-in rear LED with two flashing modes, reflective chin strap and logos

A closer look

This listing is black matt, size 56–59 cm. The close-ups below show the same helmet in anthracite matt.

Mips® slip plane

A low-friction layer between your head and the shell. In an angled impact it lets the helmet rotate a few millimetres instead of twisting your head with it, reducing the rotational forces reaching the brain.

Wide tinted visor

Full-width vision with no frame edges cutting across it. Filter category 1 at 57% light transmission – enough to take the glare off, still comfortable at dusk.

Plug-in rear LED

Two flashing modes, sitting at driver eye level. It stays with the helmet rather than the bike, so it is there whichever bike you take.

One-handed fit dial

Tighten or loosen the head band in one movement, mid-ride or over a cap. The uvex monomatic chin buckle closes one-handed too.

What Mips® actually does

Most helmets are tested against a straight-down impact. Real crashes are rarely straight down – you hit the road at an angle, and that angle twists your head. Mips® addresses exactly that: a slip plane inside the helmet absorbs and redirects rotational and centrifugal forces during an impact, which reduces the risk of head or brain injury.

You cannot feel it when you ride. It adds a few grams and a little cost, and it only matters once – on the day it matters a lot.

Wear it over your glasses

If you ride in prescription glasses, this is usually the deciding feature. The stride visor MIPS uses an Over the Glasses (OTG) shape, so your own frames sit underneath the visor instead of fighting it. No prescription inserts, no contact lenses, no compromise on how well you see the road.

Swap the visor in seconds

The visor clicks on and off a bayonet mount – no screws, no tools. That means one helmet covers the whole year:

  • Clear visor for night rides and early winter mornings
  • Dark visor for full summer sun
  • Rain cap to stop water finding the gap between visor and shell

All three are optional uvex accessories – message us and we will check current availability. There is also a docking slot for a Hiplok Z LOK security tie, so a light lock travels with the helmet.

Find your size

Run a tape measure around your head about a centimetre above your eyebrows, at the widest point. That number in centimetres is your size.

Head circumference uvex size
53–56 cm S / M
56–59 cm M / L
59–61 cm L / XL

Between two sizes? Take the larger one and snug it down with the rear dial – slightly big and tightened fits better than slightly small. The helmet should sit level, about two fingers above your eyebrows, and should not rock forward or sideways when you shake your head with the strap undone.

Questions people ask

Is Mips® worth paying more for?

It is the difference between this helmet and the standard stride visor, and it is the one feature you cannot add later. Both helmets pass the same EN 1078 test; Mips® addresses the angled impacts that the test does not cover. If you ride in traffic most days, it is the upgrade we would make.

Can I wear my prescription glasses with it?

Yes. It is designed as an Over the Glasses (OTG) helmet, so your frames sit under the visor.

Is the visor dark enough for the sun here?

The visor supplied is filter category 1 (57% light transmission) – a light tint. For strong midday sun, uvex offers a dark replacement visor that clicks onto the same mount. Many riders keep the light visor for early mornings and evenings and swap in the dark one for daytime.

Can I take the visor off completely?

Yes, it unclips without tools and the helmet can be worn without it.

Does Mips® make it hot or heavy?

No. The slip plane is a thin layer inside the shell and the vent channels run through it. The helmet weighs around 450 g.

How long does a helmet last?

Replace any helmet after an impact, even if it looks undamaged, and replace it every five years or so with normal use – the EPS liner and straps age. Clean it with mild soap and water only; solvents weaken the shell.
